Baked Apple with Almonds

If you want a quick and easy, uncomplicated baked apple recipe, then this one is just for you! I used to make this delicious baked apple with almonds for the one Guest House I worked at quite a lot and the owner's loved it. In this baked apple with almonds recipe you can add raisins, but this one in particular are without. The baked apple with almonds pair well with toffee ice-cream, but I can very much recommend my Vanilla Ice-Cream recipe, home made from scratch. You can of course divert my basic home made vanilla ice-cream into a toffee flavour.

Ingredients:

8 large firm apples such as Granny Smith Apples

lemon juice

80 ml butter

80 ml soft brown sugar

5 ml ground cinnamon

125 ml flaked almonds

juice of 1 orange

toffee ice-cream or vanilla ice-cream to serve

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 200°Celsius.

Peel the apples and sprinkle the lemon juice over the apples to prevent the apples from turning brown.

Remove the apple core with an apple corer or a melon baller.

Spray your oven tray and place the apples inside, place a dollop of butter in each apple and sprinkle the brown sugar over the apples.

Sprinkle apples with the cinnamon and almonds and pour the lemon juice around the apples.

Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes until the apples are soft and golden brown.

Serve with toffee ice-cream or vanilla ice-cream .
